The Quaker Ball in process, 1

About a month ago I found this SAL and decided to join (here I wrote about it).

I chose DMC Color Variations floss ## 99 and 94 and 18 count cream fabric.

Here are the first six squares of my Q. ball.

Easter bread

My favorite Easter bread recipe I found on russian forum. I’ve used this recipe for last 3 years and was always asked to bake it for many of my relatives

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

Directions:

2 cups of milk 1 package of active dry yeast 11 cups of flour 6 eggs 2 sticks of softened butter 1 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1 tbsp. vanilla 2 cups raisins

In a large bowl stir the yeast into the warm milk to dissolve. Add 5 cups of flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in a warm, draft-free area until the dough has doubled in size (about 30 min). Stir yolks with sugar and vanilla then add it to the dough. Add softened butter, mix well. Beat whites and add it to the dough. Add the remaining flour (slightly more or less depending on the quality of the flour), knead the dough till it not stick to your hands. Cover bowl lightly with plastic wrap, put in warm place and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour) Soak the raisins for 10-15 minutes in warm water, then drain. Add raisins to the risen dough, knead the dough and let it rise again. Fill pans with the dough (about 1/3 high), cover and give it time to rise. Preheat oven to 115F. Bake for 10 min then heat to 350F and bake additional 25 min or or until they are golden brow. Allow the bread to cool for about 20 minutes in the pans, then turn the bread onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once the bread is cool, top it with glaze. (I used marshmallow cream)

Here is how much I’ve get. Kids like to decorate it so I baked several small bread for them and give them to glaze it. So much fun!

Ornament SAL, March update

Here is my march ornament. It’s mix of cross stitch and ribbon embroidery. Actually I embroidered all three Santa but still need to make two more socks with them. Since I’m not so good with sewing it takes me time I show you later what I’ll get. Below is work-in progress picture

Это мой мартовский орнамент – вышивка крестом и лентами. Я закончила всех трех Санта Клаусов, но пока оформила только одного. Так как я не очень хорошая швея процесс шитья идет очень медленно. Выложу фото когда закончу.

Palm Sunday

 

"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord."

On Palm Sunday Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection.

This day is reminder for me to check if Jesus is the King in my life. And it also reminds me about his promise to come back.

В пальмовое воскресенье (в России вербное) христиане отмечают триумфальный вьезд Господа Иисуса Христа в Иерусалим. Этот день напоминает мне что над задуматься является ли Христос царем в моей жизни или я все решаю сама и живу как я хочу? Также напоминает о ожидании второго пришествия Христа

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Посему и Бог превознес Его и дал Ему имя выше всякого имени,дабы пред именем Иисуса преклонилось всякое колено небесных, земных и преисподних, и всякий язык исповедал, что Господь Иисус Христос в славу Бога Отца.

6 Snow Belles update

 

I’ve finished 3rd design of 6 Snow Belles. Even so it’s sunny and warm outside, these snowmen keep me in snow winter We don’t have snow here in California, so these snowmen are keepsake of my childhood. 

Я закончила очередной, третий дизайн снеговиков. На улице солнечно и жарко, а глядя на этих снеговичков я переношусь в зиму. У нас в Калифорнии снега не бывает. Так что это маленькое напоминание о дестве. Помню выходили на улицу, лепили снегвиков и даже красили их акварельными красками

Spring in our garden

Ornaments 2013 Plan

I looked through JCS magazines and chose designs to stitch for Ornament SAL (most of them from 2008 ornament issue). I probably adjust this plan later (as I usually do ) Anyway its something to stick to. Since I already started March ornament, this plan begins with April orni.

Lost no more. Last stitches

 

I finally done with this long lasting process. I love the design although I’ve work on it couple years (shame on me). I actually stitched more than half of work in several months.Now I just need to make backstitch and to frame the work. Yahoo!!

I’ve no idea how others work so fast I’d like to learn from them

 

Наконец-то я закончила эту работу! Несколько лет была в процессе не смотря на то что дизайн мне очень нравится. Последние 2/3 картины вышила за несколько месяцев. Осталось только сделать бэк и в раму! Не представляю как другие вышивальщицы могут так быстро вышивать. Надо бы опыт перенять.

Happy BD to me

It took me a wile to return here… And there is one good/sad news in my life.
About a week has passed since my 40’th birthday. I had wonderful party with my family and the big birthday cake. Thanks to my DH  The weather was warm and we decided to have party outside.

Меня не было здесь каке-то время… За это время случилось одно радостное и в тоже время печальное событие – я отметила свое 40-летие около недели назад. Был чудесный праздник. Мой любимый муж украсил для меня все шарами и заказал очень вкусный праздничный торт! Было тепло и мы устроили праздник на улице.
